POR:TA, meaning door in Portuguese, is a Non-Profit Association. It is a platform that celebrates Portugal’s identity as an international cultural hub, explores artistic frontiers and creates opportunities for artists to work, create and thrive together.

The founding partners, Brooke Waterhouse, Henrique Peysonneau Nunes and José Cabaço. believe in the power of art to create meaningful connection and wanted to support artists and help further their careers and so created POR:TA.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR


José Cabaço is a Creative Director Consultant.


José is a Product Designer but throughout his career has also embraced other roles and responsibilities, such as Art Director, Retail Designer, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Photographer and Creative Director. This wide range of disciplines has provided him with a very unique understanding of the journey of a product from its creation, all the way to the consumer’s hands, and shown him how valuable the story of that journey is.

Brooke Waterhouse is a visionary entrepreneur with a passion to support and vitalize arts and culture. She has 15 years of experience in the art industry, as the founder of Project One, a contemporary art and sound gallery based in San Francisco, and The House of Water, her own art & culture advisory firm. Brooke is also an investor in Verisart, a company that ties art authenticity to blockchain. She has served on the boards of non-profit organizations dedicated to bringing art programs to children, schools, and public spaces such as Yerba Buena Center of the Arts in San Francisco and currently sits on the Board of Directors of Slide Ranch. She is also an Honorary Member and part of the advisory board of Free Free, a global award winning organization that works for the physical, emotional, and financial freedom of girls and women.


Brooke is a humanitarian that supports projects in the Sacred Valley of Peru as well as in Dharamshala, India.

With 20+ years of experience, Henrique Peyssonneau Nunes is responsible for the international relations at CMS Portugal, assisting both individual clients and companies with immigration. Henrique’s scope of work also includes the secondment of employees to companies abroad and/or from foreign companies to Portugal.

An avid supporter of the music industry in Portugal, Henrique has built strong relationships with music artists from different genres,and plays host to numerous concerts and performances.

Open Calls: offering grants up to €10,000 across various art disciplines; music, visual arts, performance, craft and digital arts

Activations: special projects that directly support artists; producing exhibitions, performances and live experiences, to drive engagement with audiences to build artists’ careers

Partnership: Long-term support allows vibrant outreach programs like Skoola – Academia de Música Urbana to keep inspiring communities through music, while heritage craft workshops with Passa ao Futuro allow traditional skills to thrive
